2023 Professional Development Symposium

The 2023 PDS will be held on Tuesday, April 11, from 6:30-8:30 pm as a Zoom event. The topic is "How to Handle Difficult Conversations and Patients' Emotions." All medical students, residents, fellows and faculty are welcome to attend. The PDS will be hosted by Victoria Prince, MD, the President of the Resident Council. The scheduled speaker is Nadia Tremonti, MD, pediatrician and palliative care specialist and 2002 graduate of WSUSOM.

The Resident Council sponsored the 2022 Professional Development Symposium on Tuesday, April 12, from 6:30-8:30 pm as a Zoom event. The topic was "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Becoming a Catalyst for Change." Speakers included Herman Gray, MD, Chair of Pediatrics in WSUSOM, and Donovan Roy, EdD, vice dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in WSUSOM. There were more than 80 attendees, including current residents and program leadership, core faculty, incoming interns, and WSUSOM faculty.

The symposium offered 2.0 hours of implicit bias training for those who took a pretest, attended the symposium, and then completed a posttest after. For more details, contact the GME Research Coordinator Heidi Kenaga.
